I would say that Near-success-syndrome is tantamount to failure. When you keep having a scenario where you are close to breakthrough but very far from the breakthrough, then it can be termed as near-success-syndrome. You know that time where you almost got the job, but the interviewer didn’t like the colour of your tie and he turns the job away from you? Yes, that is a near success syndrome. It’s the reality of “almost there, but not quite”.
